It’s very interesting to watch the yearling polar bear imitate the mother. It’s almost as if he’s saying “What do you see, mom?”
These bears tussled for about 15 minutes, eventually one stared down the other and backed him away through the underbrush. They do this tussling in preparation for their mating season, a few months from then.
This polar bear followed us for a long period of time, and eventually went through a snow drift and under overhanging branches, ending up with snow on its face.
This is truly “like mom like cub”, as the polar bear cub is walking completely in sync with the mother.
