Polar Bear walking sideways
A typical pose, as the bear walks past and check us out.
This picture was taken while swimming with whales, about 70 miles north of the Dominican Republic, in an area known as Silver Banks, a Marine Preserve where humpback whales go to socialize, to mate, and to calve their young.
Spirit bear leaving log
Spirit Bear pictures taken on Gribell island in the Great Bear Rainforest. We waited almost all day before having the opportunity to see one Spirit bear. Spirit bears are a sub species of black bears, existing mainly on three islands in northwestern British Columbia. This bear walked down the stream, just a few feet away...
He was sitting on a rock, I saw him to crouch down and knew that he would take off; I took the picture as he was pushing away.
Baby fur seal amongst penguins
This young baby Southern Fur Seal was just lying there among a group of penguins. This shows how they all interact in the Antarctic. His mother came back a few minutes later.
Red fox on the snow
This red fox, found just south of Churchill, was unconcerned by our presence and sat down, listening for moles under the snow. His red coat glistened in the snowy background.
Grizzly bear claws showing
This bear was very gentle and unconcerned by our presence. However, he watched us all the time.
Manatee juvenile investigating
This juvenile manatee decided to come right up to my camera, I could very easily have stroked him under his chin.
Polar Bear face closeup
As seen from above, as we were up in a tundra buggy.
King Penguin with sky
Taken on a clear day, one can see the penguins in the background, as well as the beautiful mountains of the Antarctic.
