We were just a few feet away, in a zodiac, as this bear was drinking and blowing bubbles.
This bear had just finished swimming across the river, he climbed onto a fallen log, and started to shake himself. A close look at his snout shows how hard he was shaking.
This was a typical pose by a grizzly bear; this one probably weighed more than 900 pounds.
This picture was taken in the Great Bear Rainforest. It was late September, and the bears had been feeding extensively on salmon, therefore he was quite fat.

This young bear, probably four years old, came out of the forest, sat down, and went through many different poses as he was looking at us. We spent about 10 minutes with him, taking pictures from our zodiac.
